Beatnik by the River is all about the vibe! Sitting by the water feels amazing, especially if you can grab an outdoor table. The food is great! The octopus and hummus was a standout dish, unique and full of flavor, and the chicken musakhan was a delicious twist on a classic. The harissa shrimp added a nice kick, and the cheese flan was the perfect sweet ending to the meal. It does get pretty busy, so expect a bit of a crowd, but the service was solid. You're definitely paying for the atmosphere here, but it's worth it for a night out that feels special.

The view is the highlight of this restaurant! We got seated downstairs by the window alongside the river. It was easier to grab a reservation online since we went for lunch on a Friday. I suggest reserving in advance for weekends because it was still relatively busy for the lunch timeframe. The food was good but on the pricier side. The chicken musakhan was juicy, flavorful, and a big portion - can definitely split this between two people. We ordered - chicken musakhan - kale fattoush with chicken - double cheeseburger - za'atar fries

Everything! We went to Beatnik during July and if I have to leave a bad Yelp review I like to leave a good one to and Beatnik came straight to my mind! Kudos to a beautiful night with passionfruit cocktails and pork that fell off the bone. The servers were knowledgeable and just the right amount of attentive and just the most beautiful space and vibe. Love it!

Overall, the food was very good. If you go, you should get a reservation months in advance. We saw this location while we were doing a boat tour and decided to try it. Those space was available, it was only for indoors if you would like the scenic garden location, you would have to Reserve that location for in advance. We tried several dishes, including the chicken, the guacamole or avocados style dish, as well as some other items and they were all very tasty. I consider myself to be a fairly picky eater, but everything was very good.

Beatnik is a VIBE. Located in the Loop facing the river, this restaurant is not only aesthetically pleasing and tastefully decorated, but the food and drinks were also delicious! I dined here with colleagues during a work trip. Our table was in consensus of family style dining so we were able to share plates and try a little bit of everything from the menu. The highlights were: + Avocado spread: This came with tostadas and each bite was full of texture, especially with the crispy garbanzos. + Baby gem salad: I love me a good gem salad if it's an available option and this one was easily added my top 3 baby gems. It was more than likely because of the amazing avocado citrus vinaigrette dressing and goat cheese on top of the fresh ingredients! + Shrimp esquites: This was easily my favorite dish, more so because of the veggies (charred corn and broccolini) doused with the cilantro cream. + Lamb shoulder: I'm usually not a big fan of lamb but this lamb was well cooked and literally fell off the bone. The portions were generous and it was served with pitas and side spreads as well. + Olive oil cake: I was expecting this to be dry but I was totally mistaken! There were notes of apricot which have it a slight tinge of tartness and the cake itself tasted so light. They have a cocktail menu to include several spirit-free drinks as well. I enjoyed a Pineapple margarita which was super refreshing! The service was friendly and efficient for a large party.

My company decided to hold their annual Christmas party at Beatnik on the River. What a splendid choice! The Beatnik on the River provided all the lovely holiday trimmings to create a terrific vibe for us. Since I have an onion allergy, the wait staff mentioned which appetizers contained onions. I really appreciated that. One staff member started to ask me questions about my allergies. She came back with a list of foods that I can eat. I found that spectacular. Upon arriving, the staff set up hors d'œuvres which featured cucumbers, carrots, turnips, sliced pita bread, and hummus. The food tasted amazing. For appertifs, I ordered a Penicillin. Made with non alcoholic spirits, topped off with a lemon slice, and a ginger slice candy, it tasted perfect. As a matter of fact, I drank a couple of them. The event turned into a success! Everyone had a terrific time. The wait staff did a fabulous job. Note: we came here before to celebrate my wedding anniversary. This place brought back many sweet and wonderful memories.

Beatnik on The River is a restaurant inside Chicago's loop with a breathtaking view of the riverfront. I had the pleasure of dining here for dinner. Once inside I experienced a dimly lit Bohemian decor with lush plants and flowers. The menu has an eclectic mix of Mediterranean, North African and Mexican dishes and a good variety for vegan, veg, and omnivore palates. I had the kale fattoush salad and added salmon. Dish was perfectly seasoned, the veggies fresh and crisp. Eating each delicious bite while looking out at the breathtaking river was quite a treat and it was really nice watching the riverboats as they floated by. The service was warm and hospitable. I don't believe it's their norm but we were able to split the checks among our large party which was helpful.

Amazing spot. Was recommended here by my friend who had grown up in the city. The views were beautiful looking out onto the river. It was a bit bright since the sun was in the front of the window, making it pretty bright so be mindful of the time you plan to come if you plan to sit by the window facing the water. The food was great. Got the kampachi and hummus. The fish was delicious, with a light and citrusy profile. Food: 8.2/10 Service: 8/10 Ambience: 8/10 TIP: need to make reservations in advance or hard to get a spot.
